Choosing a Discord dice bot, honestly
Updated August 2026, checked against each bot's public documentation.
A comparison published on a product's own site deserves your suspicion, so this one shows its work: every cell below survives a visit to the other bot's documentation, and the last section lists what we are worse at without softening it. Each bot then gets a straight answer on when it is the better pick, because for a lot of tables it is.

When each of them wins
Avrae
The official D&D Beyond bot, and the deepest 5e automation on Discord: imported character sheets, initiative tracking, action automation, a whole alias language. It is excellent and it is free.
What you trade for that power is weight. English only, and the real value arrives once sheets are imported and the table commits to its ecosystem.
- Pick Avrae ifyour group plays D&D 5e with D&D Beyond sheets and wants the bot running the encounter's maths for you.
- Pick SirrMizan ifyou want dice in ten seconds, in your table's language, with nothing stored and nothing to maintain.
Dice Maiden
A solid, popular roller with dedicated syntax for a long list of named systems: Wrath and Glory, Hero System, World of Darkness aliases and more.
It has moved to slash commands only, and its documentation covers neither its randomness nor what it stores.
- Pick Dice Maiden ifyour system leans on special mechanics you would rather write natively than spell out in plain dice.
- Pick SirrMizan ifyou prefer one small grammar that covers everything, a prefix as well as slash, and replies your players understand.
Rollem
The minimalist: type 2d6+3 in chat and it simply answers, no command needed. Repeated rolls are built in. It is a lovely, focused idea, and for some tables it is exactly the right one.
One mechanical consequence is worth knowing: to find dice in plain conversation, an inline roller has to look at every message in the channel. SirrMizan only ever parses what is addressed to it, which is the property our privacy policy is built on.
- Pick Rollem ifinline rolling is the one feature your table actually cares about.
- Pick SirrMizan ifyou want keep and drop for stat rolls, four languages, and a bot that reads only what you send it.
Dicelette
Our closest neighbour: French and English, built around character sheet templates, with rolls organized into tidy threads.
It is a character manager that rolls dice. SirrMizan is dice with nothing to manage. Neither is the better idea in the abstract; they answer different tables.
- Pick Dicelette ifyour table wants stored stats and organized threads, especially in French.
- Pick SirrMizan ifyou want zero setup, and German and Spanish speakers at the table as well.
What we are worse at, on purpose
There is no character sheet, no initiative tracker, no per-system keyword and no inline rolling. Those are decisions rather than gaps: the whole design is one small syntax that serves any game ever printed, with nothing to configure and nothing stored. A small core is also simply harder to break, which the public status page demonstrates daily.
If a rules engine is what your table needs, take Avrae with our blessing. If what it needs is honest dice that speak its language, that is the job this bot was built for.
Try the dice in your browser first if you like, the playground runs the same engine. Or add the bot and type /roll 1d20: that is the entire onboarding.
